Bartender: I’m sorry but we serve Water with Trihalomehtanes*
Today, organic food has gone mainstream, you can find an entire grocery aisle dedicated to these premium quality foods. The food products line shelf by shelf from organization’s that opted to label Non-GMO and organic ingredients. The truth is a new culture of food awareness is here and the consumer demands it. But how about our water?
The quality of water does influence public health and should not be weighed lightly, according to Dr. Nina Bhambhani from NY Langone Medical Center, she stated that
“We really need to think about water as being the primary source of a lot of problems, diseases, cancers, water is something we need to have in its pure form”.
The water in New York is considered to be one the best in the country, based on the NYC 2015 Drinking Water Supply Quality Report, the report also states the DEP adds chlorine, food grade phosphoric acid, sodium hydroxide, and fluoride to the city’s tap water. There have been numerous studies related to chlorination and fluoride, including a study from Harvard that concluded when people drink chlorinated water over long periods of time, they have an increase chance of contracting bladder and rectal cancer. In the book published by Dr. J Price, Coronaries – Cholesterol – Chlorine, he points out that *Trihalomethanes is a chemical by-product formed secondary to the interaction of chlorine with organic materials, which are commonly found in our water supply. Dr. Price challenges the medical establishment with his own well documented theory directly linking deadly heart disease with the deadly poison chlorine.
In New York, more than 315 waste-water infrastructure investment projects await funding totaling $31.4 billion dollars. During my research, I came across an article published on Riverkeeper.com, “State of the Hudson and Our Water Supply”, emphasizing that NYC’s water supply has been tested positive for pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs). One of the main focus points in that article is the adverse effects on water based organisms caused by hormones and endocrine disruptors that are found in PPCP’s. While levels in City water are low, no standards have been set for safe human exposure to these compounds and New York City discontinued testing for these compounds in 2010. While we wait for that $31.4 billion dollar funding, the public is not being properly informed or educated on options that are available to them to drink clean water.
The quality of your health depends on the quality of the food that you are putting into your body, including the water. Don’t start taking care of your health once it’s gone. Eat Clean, Drink Clean
