Health Insurance Companies…Keeping Us Healthy!

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires everyone to have health insurance and it has impacted every American by hitting them where it hurts most, our wallet. Now more than ever Health Insurance and Private Companies are interested in the Health of people to keep costs down, since the average health care costs are expected to rise 13% (22% without the ACA) by 2018, according to statista.com. Mid to Large size companies have initiated Wellness incentives to reduce costs, including Goldman Sachs’ monthly Fit-bit challenge and John Hancock’s Healthy Living incentive that gives you up to $600 back for buying fruits and vegetables.

Cigna Health Insurance, just released a statement regarding the Waters Total Rewards program initiated by Robert DiFabio, Director of Benefits and Health Services and its success, “provides employees and their families choice and action, leads to great results…the company was able to increase utilization of preventive care services to help decrease claim spend”.
